Deloitte Prague Cup 2013 Charity Auction supporting the SCWC
Posted on the 6th June 2013
Andy Newman, nurse from Deloitte Central Europe, reports back on their Annual Cup and charity auction, this year in support of the Street Child World Cup:
“On the weekend of Saturday 11 May 2013, over 700 employees of Deloitte member firms representing 27 countries from 3 continents gathered in the capital of the Czech Republic to take part in the 10th annual Deloitte Prague Cup 6-a-side football tournament.
As well as a men’s and women’s tournament, there was also a charity auction held to raise much-needed funds to help assist a team from the Central Europe region to attend the Street Child World Cup being held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil next year.
Thanks to some generous donations – not least original Premier League shirts worn & signed by Tomas Rosicky of Arsenal and Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea – a fantastic amount of £1,100 was raised.
Other auction items included 2 tickets for the Premier League game between Tottenham Hotspurs & Sunderland, a signed Seb Coe framed print, a Barcelona Champions League box-set, signed footballs and gloves from former Liverpool & Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, an England shirt signed by Wayne Rooney, and last but not least 2 Czech football shirts signed by former Czechoslovakia international Antonin Panenka, who was the guest of honour at the presentation ceremony following the charity auction.
The event was also a perfect opportunity to raise awareness throughout the various Deloitte networks concerning the Street Child World Cup, and it is hoped that going forwards the Deloitte Prague Cup and the firm as a whole can continue to support this wonderful event.”
Street Child World Cup want to thank Andy and all the Deloitte staff involved for their generous support of the SCWC.
