Statement - Thursday, 15th June, 2017
Street Child United is committed to working with organisations around the world to improve the lives of street-connected children.
Following an investigation into the allegations made against Azad Foundation in Pakistan by five young people in their care when they took part in two of our international events, we asked our partners in Pakistan, Muslim Hands, to speak directly with the young people on our behalf, to ascertain their account of participating in two Street Child United events and the process around this as managed by Azad Foundation.
Upon review of these conversations, we have taken the decision not to work with Azad Foundation for our next major event, the Street Child World Cup in Moscow 2018.
Muslim Hands will follow up with the young people involved and offer education and training support.
We are proud that Pakistan is represented at our international events for the rights of street-connected children. Through Muslim Hands, we will discuss alternative options for our upcoming events.
