World Cup Marathon Challenge
We’re used to our amazing volunteers going the extra mile to change the way street-connected children are seen and treated, but this year they’re going 367 miles – by foot – to share the message of the young people taking part in the Street Child World Cup: The Future Depends On You.
From 1 – 14 June Street Child United volunteers Ben and Sasha will take on their incredible challenge of walking 14 marathons in 14 consecutive days in 14 European cities. By time time they’ve finished they’ll have walked, driven and flown a combined distance exceeding 17,000 miles.
Ben and Sasha are walking in all the European nations playing in the FIFA World Cup, arriving in Moscow on the opening day of the tournament. They will deliver the message created by the young people at the Street Child World Cup to governments, organisations, football clubs and communities in every country they walk through, whilst raising vital funds to enable Street Child United to create a global platform for street-connected young people’s voices.
We’d also love for you to join the team for any leg of the challenge – in London we will be welcomed at Wembley Stadium, The Emirates Stadium, Stamford Bridge and Selhurst Park. You can see the full schedule below.
