Merel Van Dongen gifts SCU Young Leaders her World Cup match shirts

Posted on the 7th July 2019

We’re wishing good luck for the FIFA Women’s World Cup final to Merel Van Dongen, who has given two of our Young Leaders her match shirts from the quarter final and semi final as gifts!

Indhu and Shallini are Street Child United Young Leaders who played for Team India Karunalaya at the Street Child World Cup Moscow 2018. They have been in Lyon with us all week to take part in Street Football World’s Festival19.

Merel invited Indhu and Shallini to sit with her family in the stadium to watch the World Cup semi final, and generously gave them her match shirts from the World Cup quarter final and semi final..

Merel is Executive Producer of Street Kids United III, a documentary following Team India’s journey through the Street Child World Cup Moscow 2018. This was the first time she’s had the opportunity to meet players from the team the film is about.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to Merel for her incredible generosity!
