Every night millions of children across the world are forced to survive on the streets. Can you get through just one night?
Sleep rough for one night on Friday 24 October in Spitalfields Market, London and join Street Child World Cup in support of street children across the world and in the UK for our sponsored sleep out. We’re delighted to announce that the girls from Team England will be joining us sharing their experiences of SCWC Rio 2014.
Street children are somebodies, yet so often vulnerable, alone and ignored. They are denied their basic human rights. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Street Child World Cup stands together with street children and the organisations that support them, providing a global platform for their voices to be heard.
Benson, 16, is a survivor of the streets; he captained Team Kenya at the Street Child World Cup and since returning home has been invited to sit on the County Children’s Assembly acting as an ambassador for Kenya’s street children.
My goal at the Street Child World Cup was to show my friends, who are still on the streets, that even they are important and they can come out of the streets.
My dream for the future is to be a lawyer, so I can help those [street] children. I can fight for them.”
The Big City Sleep event will ensure the voices of street children remain in the spotlight raising awareness and funds in support of street children across the world.
