“It is with great joy and pride that SAFIRE has welcomed the news of its participation to the Street Child World Cup.

Being involved in this international event is a unique chance for us to challenge the negative perceptions and treatment that street children face in their everyday life.  Mauritius has never been involved in any FIFA football World Cup ever; it is the first time that a Mauritian delegation will be part of such a major international event, clinic and   it will be represented by a group vulnerable children experiencing denial of their rights. We hope that this event will help to raise awareness on the issue of street children in Mauritius while being a catalyst for policy changes among the authorities and the population as a whole.”

Ismahan Ferhat, director of SAFIRE, Mauritius
