Street Child World Cup announce partnership with The Global Sleepover

Street Child World Cup are delighted to announce our partnership with The Global Sleepover – an organisation dedicated to publishing stories about global citizenship for children ages 4-8.

Their newest story, illness “Sleepover at the World Cup in Brazil” transports young readers to the World Cup and Brazil highlighting cultural diversity and the power of football to unite children.

The story has vibrant illustrations, animations and facts about Brazil and is a great way to engage and inform children about the issues facing street children. At one point in the story the character of Fernão says: “I started the Community Cup so I could bring all my friends together,” echoing in a childlike voice one of the aims of the SCWC.

John Wroe, Street Child World Cup CEO says: “We are thrilled to be partnering with The Global Sleepover. At SCWC we believe in empowering young people with knowledge and cultural experiences – these ideals are also shared and encouraged with The Global Sleepover’s young readership. No child should have to live on the streets, and empowering young people with stories such as this one will help to ensure future generations can make this dream a reality.”

Geeta Raj, President of The Global Sleepover commented, “Our newest story is about cultural diversity, friendship and how football brings everyone together. We wanted to show our readers, through the eyes of our characters, why the beautiful game is truly so beautiful. Then we met Street Child World Cup and thought: “their work brings our story to life!” It is for this reason that we are thrilled to be partnering with SCWC. Their work empowering street children through football resonates, is incredibly important, and has a global social impact that we hope multiplies itself by a thousandfold.”
