Street Child World Cup in association with Save the Children are delighted to have won the “small NGO category” at the Bond Development Awards for international development. The awards celebrate the innovative and exciting work by British international development organisations. Our award was in recognition of this film “When the world conspires with us”
The award was presented to our CEO John Wroe and Director of Fundraising Francesca Marenghi by Rt. Hon. Justine Greening, Secretary of State for International Development at the awards ceremony in Sadler’s Wells, London. According to Bond “The judges were particularly struck by the humility of those involved and the sense of fun they injected into the lives of the children the project touched.”
This years theme was collaboration and we would like to dedicate this award to the inspiring children and project partners that we serve and our partners without whom none of the work would be possible. We look forward to moving out of the small NGO category!
Bond is the UK membership body for organisations working in international development or supporting those that do through funding, research, training and other services.
“I know from personal experience just what power football can have to inspire and change young people’s lives whatever their background or nationality. This is what the Street Child World Cup is all about and I give it my full support.”
“It was possible to gather many nationalities, story cultures, viagra 60mg and form a nation: a nation of free man, with equal rights and opportunities, mutual respect, rightful duties. It was 10 days when the world, in that corner of Rio, was fair to socially excluded children; they could feel the beauty of being somebody in this world.”
“No child should have to live on the streets. I commend the Street Child World Cup for providing a platform for the rights of street children to be heard.”
